Tresha Dronen Carroll
Tresha took her first Bikram Hot Yoga class in February of 2016, a friend invited her to a class. At first, she did not think this was a good idea! Tresha is of Norwegian blood, is from the Pacific Northwest, and likes the COLD. Needless to say, trying a HOT Yoga class was not high on her list of priorities - and she still went to the class, anyways.
And what do ya know!?
Tresha knew after her first class that she actually did like the Yoga. She has always enjoyed to exercise, loves a challenge, and she actually loves to run. It's no question that the healing yoga we practice supports the active lifestyles of many of our students. However, the Bikram Hot Yoga class challenged Tresha in ways that her other activities did not - especially mentally!
That's what hooked her. The mental stimulation - the exercise of discipline, of breathing... when she realized she knew she was learning how to breathe, she knew this Yoga was going to give her something more!
After her continued practice, she began to notice the 'over-heating' was happening much less frequently, if at all! A specific instance that stands out for Tresha when reflecting on this was when she witnessed an accident on the way to work a few months after beginning her practice. Before yoga, Tresha has a very hard time witnessing this kind of trauma. However, she found herself pulling into the scene, remaining calm, and actually helping with the situation until the First Responders could arrive. She knew she had her Yoga to thank for the gift of a newfound mental calmness, even in this very intense situation!
Though the mental and emotional benefits are what really hooked Tresha, she does say she loves the feeling of increased physical energy that she also credits to her practice! I bet we all agree here - sometimes, there is nothing better than the pure joy of a random at-home dance party!
Overall, Tresha has her consistent yoga practice to thank for her increased mental, emotional, and physical fitness. It's these deep changes that keep her coming back.
If Tresha could chat with a New Student before their first class, she'd say:
it's hot - have an open mind, and breathe.
If you see Tresha at the Studio, don't hesitate to say "hi!". The Studio is like a family to her - the community feel is authentic and she loves being able to count out being greeted by a happy, smiling face no matter what's going on outside the Studio walls.
