Steps to a Persistent Yoga Practice by Kerry Craig
I'm right there with you. I was a runner for years because it fit my schedule but then it started to take a toll on my knees. I never could get into going to an athletic club. And I seem to sink like a stone so swimming was not for me!
Enter Bikram Yoga.
I'm now entering my 14th year of practicing this remarkable composition of 26 poses in a very warm room. Through fairly consistent practice, it has proven to be a healing "medicine" for my back pain and other pains in my shoulders. It's increased my mental acuity (believe me, I need that!) and relieved serious depression.
I wanted to share 10 quick tips that helped me move from a "once in awhile" practitioner. These tips helped me shake free from the thought of pain, the heat, the fear, the anxiety, the resistance of a beginning practitioner to being a fluid, calm, persistent hot yoga practitioner.
Finally, remember: Expect good things. Where the mind goes, the body will follow. Remember to smile! And tough days follow good days follow tough; it's just the way life is...love it!
