I practiced hot yoga before, during and after my last pregnancy. Having had four children without having practiced hot yoga I can say with confidence that my fifth pregnancy, labor and post partum were soo much better with hot yoga on my side! I practiced up till right before delivery and my labor went flawlessly and completely drug free (my son was born less than 20minutes after leaving our house) Breathe through your nose during your entire labor, just like we all do in hot yoga class and don’t listen to the recommended “hee her whoo” Lamaze hogwash! I would absolutely recommend continuing with one’s hot yoga practice after becoming pregnant, the modified poses are safe and actually made my yoga practice stronger after I came back 4weeks post partum. If you are nursing be sure to stay extra hydrated but otherwise go for it! You are so much stronger than you think and practicing hot yoga during pregnancy will prove it to yourself! Baby #5 at 39yrs young was a breeze with hot yoga! :)
